Special Recognition at International Multi- Media Exhibition

Five of my prints are featured in Upstream People Gallery's 10th Annual Collage, Digital & Mixed Media Online International Art Exhibition. Three of my works received special recognition and were written up in the Juror's Statement. Here is what they said:

"KRISTOPHER HEDLEY of Gardiner, New York adds integrity to his work via combining multiple printmaking methods. “Diving Ladder 1” in its visual precision is richly enhanced with etching, monotype, woodcut and screen printing while adding acrylic to the mix. The geometry and organic qualities nicely contrast. “Isometric Intrusion” is another fine piece combining screen printing with drypoint and watercolor. And in terms of the most varied in imagery is “Schism Diptych” with wonderful dimensional aspects."

Drawing A Day: Spring 2008

This Spring, my co-worker and I challenged each other to finish a drawing a day for Lent. That meant 40 days of continual drawing- with the end result being 40 finished, reasonably complex sketches. As if the humiliation of defeat wasn't enough, we agreed to pay up a dollar for every day missed. So the game was on. I decided for my benefit to focus on the figure and to copy drawings by Bouguereau, Raphael, Andrew Loomis and a few others. She opted to copy Bridgman's big figure drawing book chapter by chapter. We both finished pretty well, and neither of us lost too much money out of the deal (maybe 4 bucks between us). Overall, I think it was a successful project- it really put pressure on me to produce work, even when I didn't want to. Beyond that however, I think my ability to render the figure may have improved- as well as my grasp of line and value.
Here are a few examples of the work. All of the drawings are on a 9 x 12 inch sheet, and are rendered in graphite.

NEW PRINTS: Winter 2007

The following eight prints were included in my MFA Thesis Exhibition
entitled: INVOLUTION at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art. The show, however short lived, was a great success & many warm thanks to the people who helped me put it all together. I could not have done it without you! Special thanks to my wife Eileen for months of moral (and financial) support, to Trish Seery for her outstanding postcard design, to Jason Warren for shooting the photos and to Devon Thomas for taking the time to make the beautiful frames for my work. I am so grateful for your generous help.
